System Prompt

The system prompt is the block of text that tells a model who it is, what it does, how it behaves, and what it must never do. A production one is a document, not a sentence: identity and tone, role and scope, company guidelines, product details, absolute rules, example conversations, available tools, and operating instructions. The book calls it the agent's brain and where most engineering effort belongs.
