Kill Switch

Kill switches are hard limits that stop a multi-agent system from spiraling. The book recommends three from day one: a timeout, sixty seconds by default; a cost ceiling, around two dollars per query; and an iteration limit of roughly ten handoffs. They complement per-agent circuit breakers on retries and tool calls. You will hit them regularly in development, which is exactly the point.
