Human-in-the-Loop

Human-in-the-loop means pausing an agent before a consequential action so a person can approve, reject, or edit it. In LangGraph the interrupt() call freezes execution with state checkpointed, and a Command resumes it later. The book applies it to refunds, contract changes, data deletion, and external communications, and treats it as a deliberate design choice, not a limitation, alongside bounded autonomy.
